Final election entry and prediction

well this is it...after many months on the campaign trail, the elections of the Missouri Senate race end today. I would like to offer my opinion on the campaigns of both Republican Roy Blunt and Democrat Robin Carnahan, then I will give my two cents into who will win this whole thing.

First off, I personally had a difficult time actually finding news about this election. The one big reason I found out is that the election is not really as important as the other races going on today. There are many predictions from political experts that say the republicans will gain quite a few seats and may win the power to block any filibuster that before they could not do. That being said, my candidates both I believe had to really prove themselves in order to be noticed. Robin Carnahan had more of the hometown/just plain folks approach and she focused a lot more on the real issues. Roy Blunt has the advantage of being the incumbent and is more known in the senate floor, but I believe his campaign has relied more on scare tactics and being a little shifty.

so I guess now its time to give my prediction, I think Robin Carnahan will win her election because she uses more facts and reasons for why she will change Missouri, she is more familiar with how Missouri works, her family is very well know politically in MI.

So that's it, now all we have to do is wait and see what really happens. Personally, I'm glad there will be no more political ads on TV anymore.

Cambaign update for the week of 10-25-10

A few lectures ago, our class was talking about mudslinging and negative campaign ads and whether theyare actually effective on the public. This update will focus on both the Carnahan and Blunt campaign ads and if thier ads fall into this category.

The most of  Rebuplican Roy Blunt ads are negative. He rarely critizes Carnahan's platform by only focusing on her ties to Obama. I have noticed he constantly ususes a sound byte of Obama endorsing Carnahan. Blount uses that specific sound clip in almost every commerical to attack Carnahan as a rubber stamper of  Obama's platform, which he sees as bad for Missouri.

The Democrat Robin Carnahan, attacks Blunt's honesty about his corporate ties to PerfectWave, a california contractor. Her most recent ads are positive and have endorsements from Republican citzens.

Campaign update for the week of 10-18-10

I thought  this week was going to be a slow news day for my campaign, I am glad that I was wrong. There are a lot of issues and controversies that have come up recently.

I  went back to both Robin Carnahan's and Roy Blunt's political websites. On Roy Blunt's campaign website, there were several new advertisements that apparently say that democaric policies endanger the health of seniors and state that foriegn workers are going to take over Missouri, wait there is no foriegn border at all near Missouri! Why would he highlight border patrol if the real border is in southwest America? Or does he want stop Illinoisans from crossing  into Missouri?

On the other hand, Robin Carnahan's website  new campaign ads are much more about the  facts and the policies behind her campaign. She lists concrete ideas about how to create and maintain jobs in Missouri. Carnahan also highlights Blunt's links to a corrupt corporation and discusses her plan for banning earmarks that Blount uses excessively.

campaign update for the week of 10/11/10

As the campaign trail comes closer to an end, its getting closer to the wire. Since Democrats are starting to get concerned that they will lose their majority that they have held on to since Obama took office. It seems like now democrats are focusing on Missouri senate race as the best chance for a pick-up. There is still a sense of worry because although Robin Carnahan's family is very well known in Missouri politics, she is still a newcomer. Republican Roy Blunt is known more in the national politics world, therefore he has an easier time being able to get endorsements from higher people in the senate.

There is something that I saw just last night, I know this might sound like I am going off track, just listen to all of it. There was an new episode of Family Guy on and it featured Rush Limbaugh voicing himself and he made Brian the dog from a hardcore liberal, to a extreme conservative. But at the end of the episode, Brian went back to being a democrat and started to bash Rush's ideas, then they smiled at each other and shook hands. This reminded me that even though I don't agree with republicans on most issues, people can still be friendly and respectful of peoples opinions.

campaign update for the week of Oct. 4, 2010

For this campaign update, I wanted to focus on something that confused me during the past few weeks of the election campaign. My usual mourning routine is  I wake up and  always watch the Today Show.  One morning I was watching as usual, when I saw a attack ad against Robin Carnahan but it was not from the Blunt campaign, but from a special interest group.

A special interest group is a  group of citizens or corporations who support a candidate on one or two specific issues. So I already knew what a special interest group was, I was just confused why a Missouri senate campaign ad was being show in Southern Illinois. So I asked my professor and I found out that the reason was because of the small media market that surrounds Southern Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri.

Since the election cycle is coming closer to an end, there are going to be more campaign ads, not just from Missouri, but from all the other campaigns in this media market. So I can expect more local campaign ads ruining my morning routine much more often!

Campaign update for sept 27th, 2010

This week in the Missouri Senate election has shown Blunt now in the lead 52-44. An article from Politico has shown that Robin Carnahan has declined to do several debates on public and national TV. The only two debates she agreed upon will not be on TV. The Two televised debates were to be on Fox News and NBC’s “Meet the Press”. Carnahan declined to both and especially to Fox news because Fox is filing a suit against the Carnahan campaign because they are making it look like one of their news anchors is supporting their campaign.

” In a smear ad against political rival Roy Blunt, Defendant Robin Carnahan for Senate, Inc. usurped proprietary footage from the Fox News Network to [make] it appear - falsely - that FNC and Christopher Wallace, one of the nation's most respected political journalists, are endorsing Robin Carnahan's campaign for United State Senate.”

Now what I find weird about Fox News suing the Carnahan campaign is that they were getting a endorsement from a republican and Fox News is a conservative station, so why would the democratic runner want their support in the first place? Personally I would actually want to see the two canadates debate on national TV weather it was NBC or Fox News. But the only two debates are going to be on Missouri public TV, so we'll see what happens.

Campaign update for 9/20/2010

Well this week in the Missouri Campaign for senate, There was one article from A Kansas City News Site about a recent attack ad directed at Robin Carnahan, I don't know weather I should just show u the ad, or........screw it I'm showing it. Be forewarned, it will make u feel nostalgic.....in more ways than one

Did you watch it?...........I don't know weather I should be reminded of the old Batman TV show with Adam West, or be confused at what the message the ad is trying to get across. I guess the point is stating that the big health care bill that was passed a while ago, and that it was a bad idea.

There was one big thing in the article I mentioned earlier.....scroll down to the comments and its kinda shocking........people are either bashing her because of the ad, or bashing the article itself for its less than approprate amout of research

campaign update for 9/13/2010

Its time for the weekly update to the Missouri senate elections for September 13th, 2010.

Lets get right into it. In a poll conducted by the New York Times, Democrat Robin Carnahan only has a 9.1% chance of winning the election! Why such bad chances? its because of her views on concealed handguns, Missouri is one of the concealed carry states.

On Secetary Carbahan youtube page, she uses Roy Blunt's image as a washington "insider". As I mentioned in my very first post of how Blunt is the #1 recipent of lobbying funds, her videos also point that he voted several times to increas his own salary. Finally, the ads are also scaring senior citzens because Blunt does not support medicare.

But on Roy Blunt's Youtube page, his ads say that Robin is not to be trusted because she supports Obama.........and thats bad.....because?

well either way it looks like Mr. Blunt will win but as of today, the votes are still in a dead heat

introduction to the Missouri 2010 senate race

So this is it, the 2010 senate races, today is labor day and it is considered the unofficial start of the campaign season... there so many seats up for grabs in the senate this year......the republicans are going to be trying to gain majority control, whereas the democrats are just defending their majority..........sounds allot like promoting a pay-per-view boxing match........and in Missouri it is going to be very close. For the republicans, there's congressman Roy Blunt who according to his site: Roy Blunt Party Blog, that he is the #1 recipient of lobbyists money. I am from Chicago and when I personally saw that website, something like Mr. Blunt getting the most lobbyist money and government sends a weird vibe about it. Now for the Democrats there's hopeful Robin Carnahan, she is the Missouri secretary of state and is running under the banner that she has saved Missouri taxpayers around $10 billion given back to their rightful owners. Personally, I think Carnahan has a shot to win the senate seat for the democrats.  Finally, The Missouri senate race is actually in a tie at 48% to 48%.

So for the next few weeks, I will give a weekly blog on the progress of this election and give a little of my opinion. So I hope you enjoy and comment if you have and idea or just something to say
